=============================================================================== VTune(TM) Performance Analyzer for Windows* OS Installation Guide =============================================================================== Introduction =============================================================================== The installation program installs the VTune(TM) Performance Analyzer on your system. If you already have VTune analyzer or its components installed on your system, you need to uninstall them before installing this version of the product. The following directory map indicates the default structure of the installed files and identifies the contents of the main sub-directories. +-- Program Files [+-- Program Files (x86) when installing on a 64-bit | operating system] | + -- Intel | +-- vtune | +-- Analyzer (binaries and executable files) | +-- DOC (README, install guide, release notes and reference PDF files) | +-- Examples (demo files) | +-- global_data (data created by the VTune analyzer and used | by different VTune analyzer projects on this system) | +-- Help (online documentation) | +-- tprofile (Intel(R) Thread Profiler files) | +-- Shared (binaries and executable files) To install the VTune analyzer on a Microsoft Windows* system: 1. If you received the product on CD-ROM, insert the CD-ROM into a CD-ROM drive. If the installation program does not automatically start, locate the file Setup.exe on the CD-ROM and double-click it. If you received the product as an electronic download, double-click the downloaded file, named vtune91_win.exe. Where update# is an optional update version number. The installation program starts. Click "Next". 2. At the prompt, provide the path of a temporary directory into which the contents of the self-extracting installation file will be placed before the actual installation begins. Click "Next". 3. The Intel(R) Software Setup Assistant appears. Click "Next" to continue the installation, or click on the links provided on the left-hand side to view useful product and support information. 4. Choose between the following product license options: (1) use the existing license found on the system, this option is not shown if the license file is not found by the install program (2) provide your serial number, or (3) provide a license file. If option (1) is available, choose it and click "Next" Choose option (2), enter a serial number, and click "Next" NOTE: If you did not purchase a commercial support license, you need to be connected to the internet to complete this installation. A serial number was provided to you when you purchased the product, either in an e-mail from Intel or your reseller, or on a sticker attached to the CD-ROM package. The correct license, based on the serial number, will automatically be extracted or downloaded and then installed on your system. Choose option (3) if you have a valid license file that was not found automatically. Browse to find the file location or enter the file path directly to the input field. Then click "Next". NOTE: If installing from CD-ROM, without connection to the internet, a default license is installed that enables installation and use of the VTune analyzer but does not allow upgrades/updates. 5. The installation begins. Click "Next" to proceed. 6. Accept the license agreement and click "Next" to continue. 7. Accept the default installation directory or choose a different directory.
